Victoria Cross action Military Cross group awarded to Lieut. William Herbert Davies, 14th Battalion Durham Light Infantry for the Battle of Cambrai. He won the Military Cross on December 3rd 1917 where Acting Captain Arthur Moore Lascelles won the Victoria Cross.
Military Cross Gazetted July 8th 1918.
"For Conspicuous Gallantry and devotion to duty. After a heavy bombardment his company was attacked and forced from the trench. Though He had been buried three times by shells, He led his counter attack with the greatest of skill and determination, and recaptured the position".
